15: November Link Love

LinkLoveNovember

Sorry you guys, I don’t know how you’ve been dealing the last week, either turning away from TV and news completely or like me, inhaling article after article after article. I just need to stay engaged and so I’m afraid this link love post will be a little politics-heavy. Therefore I am going to split this post into halves, in case you want to skip the politics and jump down to the more conventional links I usually share. You’re welcome.

I need these Obama-Biden memes in my life right now.

While I haven’t unfriended anyone (yet), I identify with this article. I didn’t unfriend you over politics.

Sarah Palin could become my ‘boss’, you guys. I can’t even. I am horrified.

THIS. “ If you thought the core Trump supporters would be loud if Hillary Clinton won, what do you think is going to happen now that you’ve  marginalized a group that has much more to lose than freedom from background checks for guns and a ten percent lag in wage growth? At stake for them, is participation in our society.”

Something to think about: How we broke democracy. Hint: Social Media is at the root of this.

I am a black man and interviewed a former white supremacist. An experience to contemplate.

This guy is so frightening. It’s a long article but worth your time.

I love you, California.

I’m sure you have heard about the ‘safety pin’-thing. If you’re considering wearing one, read this beforehand.

You might need a little help on how to process election emotions.

I needed to read this. Go out and do something! Anything! 9 real, actionable things we can do about Trump.

A List of Pro-Women, Pro-Immigrant, Pro-Earth, Anti-Bigotry Organizations That Need Your Support.

And… 16 more writers on Trump’s America. If you’re so inclined.

This sound absolutely fantastic. Bread Sausage Apple Hash.

9 different crochet stitches to try.

This is so clever. If away from home for travel, place a coin on a mug of ice in the freezer. Here’s why.

Let’s learn to live again. Agreed.

Loved this. If you run, you should write – and vice versa.

Cardio protects you from depression. I guess I am going to keep running then.

And finally, THE best news this week.

  1. Just like you I’ve been glued to the news, reading article after article. I even cried a little bit yesterday. This is all so unreal still. Also I REALLY REALLY REALLY hope beyond hope that Sarah Dumbass Palin DOES NOT in any way shape or form become your boss. What a lunatic.

    1. Things have not been looking any better in the last two weeks… SIGH. I am so frustrated.

  2. That article about how we broke democracy was super interesting – and scary to think about. I feel like I’ve become more moderate as I’ve gotten older because of the people I am surrounded by as they have different political views. But I can see how social media can make people even more entrenched in their beliefs and can make it harder to come to a place of compromise, empathy and understanding…

Thanks for sharing those different crochet stitches. I will have to give them a try! I’ve become pretty obsessed with crocheting lately! I still love knitting but it’s been fun to work on some new patterns/projects!

    1. I know, right? That article was a bit eye-opening and instead of staying within our political ‘groups’, we should reach out and discuss more.

Yay, I am glad you’re crocheting more this winter :)

  3. I so hope Sarah Palin is not going to become your “Boss” – that’s just wrong on every level!
Love California even more now ! And now let me go and find a Safety Pin.

    1. I am so, so glad we live in California. Goodness, it’s like a breath of fresh air!

  4. Well, Trump is my new boss… therefore I generally do not engage in any political conversations on social media due to obvious reasons.

  5. That “I didn’t unfriend you over politics” article is SO SPOT-ON.
